About Us

“Skookum” is a Chinook Jargon word that means strong, fast and dependable. We deliver complete, quality yacht care, with an emphasis on the long-term health of your boat and your budget. We are a family business with a shop and small chandlery in the Granville Island Boatyard, and a service van from which we work at marinas around the Southern Straight. In one way or another we have been in boating for 20 years, and we expect to be here many more. Please check back here regularly for new information, free advice, stories of boat maintenance, and seasonal or other discounts.

Our Shop

In our shop at 1625 Foreshore Walk, we sell a range of popular bottom paints as well as anodes, fasteners, and painting, polishing, and other supplies: everything you’ll need for your haulout work.
We really do enjoy talking to boat people. Whether you’re a long-time customer or doing your boat work yourself, we’re usually happy to lend tools and advice as required. Sometimes there’s whisky, too.
