  • Description

The Disabled Sailing Association of British Columbia (DSA), now known as the Adaptive Sailing Association of British Columbia (ASABC), has been a pioneer in providing accessible sailing opportunities for people with disabilities. Founded by Sam Sullivan in 1988, ASABC has evolved to include a fleet of specially designed Martin 16 sailboats, which are designed to accommodate a range of disabilities and sailing skill levels. The organization operates from May through August, hosting between 800 and 1,000 sailing experiences annually. ASABC’s programs are designed to increase independence, motivation, and quality of life for people with physical disabilities through the sport of sailing. The organization is based out of the Jericho Sailing Centre on English Bay in Vancouver and is run by a team of trained staff and volunteers.
